According to Alex Pareene at Salon, Republican handlers are sequestering Nevada GOP Senate nominee Sharron “Let’s give prisoners Scientology massages” Angle from the press. This strategy seems to be something they’ve really embraced since Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric.
My favorite part:
The reason Angle is unable to answer questions is because she is an Outsider. Also, she only has two full-time staffers. She needs a couple weeks with the campaign pros behind Scott Brown’s victory before she’s qualified to say what she believes to reporters. Once she owns a truck, you can ask all the question you want, lame stream media.
I don’t like the 24-hour news cycle and the gotcha journalism pieces it needs to survive, but candidate still need to be vetted. We need to know they are more than just soundbites. We need to see how they handle pressure. Sequestering them away from the media just leads to increased suspicion and stories like this one, although I guess the GOP handlers are banking on the party base voters in NV not caring too much about Salon.com.
