The National Post:
An Indian Muslim televangelist recently banned from Canada for his inflammatory statements about Jews, gays, and the West, will still headline a massive Islamic conference in Toronto this weekend, addressing upwards of 10,000 attendees via video satellite.
I think Canada has handled this case right–deny the schmuck his visa, yes, but restrict free speech on the internet, no. They aren’t becoming what they hate.
I found this story most interesting, though, because this hatemonger is headlining a conference on women in Islam. Want to know what he thinks about women?:
The 44-year-old medical doctor has also said that a man is within his right to beat his wife “lightly,” though in a July 2009 YouTube video he cautioned against hitting her on the face or leaving a mark.
My first response: “Why worry about marks on the face when you can force your wife to wear a niqab?” But really, this guy is just a coward and imbecile. Rather than advocate that people should reason with each other, he wants men to use their physical strength to settle arguments with women. Just not too strongly, because then someone might notice and the man might get in trouble. Burn in hell, Zakir Naik.
